The 5-day desert tour itinerary begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your hotel in Fes. Then we travel south through Imouzzer to Ifrane. Ifrane's distinct features include its chilly weather, snow, and alpine-style homes. It's no surprise that it's called Morocco's Switzerland. Then we head to the cedar forest, where the Barbary Macaques live. Feel free to feed them while strolling through the forest.
Later, we will travel to Midelt and there we will have lunch. Then we go to the Sahara desert, driving across the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and down the Ziz River. In the afternoon, we arrive in the Sahara desert at Merzouga. There, you will take a camel ride in the sandy desert. You will stop to enjoy the stunning sunset from the top of a high dune. Then go to the desert luxury camp. There, you may listen to Berber drum music. You can dance around the campfire under the vast, open sky of stars. Dinner and stay at the camp.
Wake up early to catch the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver is waiting. We dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area has many great sights. These include sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil sites, and a fantastic oasis. They are perfect for many outdoor activities.
We start in Merzouga by going off-road to see an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay a visit to the nomads' hand-woven tent. Drink Berber tea and learn about their lifestyle. Our next visit is to Khamlia village. There, you may watch Gnaoua music and dance shows. The people who live here are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a tour around the palm tree grove. Then drive a few kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight At a hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert for Rissani, Tafilalet's former capital. Rissani is an important trading center in the region. It has a busy souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After a tour around Rissani Souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossil marble workshops. We next drive via Touroug and Tinjdad palm industries to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River's flow has cut a beautiful canyon through the mountains. It has steep, red cliffs. These gorges are perfect for rock climbing. Feel free to explore the gorges and enjoy the views. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Then we continue to the Dades valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. The inevitable halt at the "monkey fingers" rock formation. And on top of a mountain, overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, food and a night in a hotel.
Following breakfast, we continued the desert trip to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. The Rose Festival takes place in May. Locals sell a variety of rose products. These include perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Free time for lunch. We then drive through Skoura's palm groves to see the Kasbah of Amridil. Finally, we will arrive at Ouarzazate. We'll visit the studios where they shot famous movies and the Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and stay at a hotel / Riad
On the final of our 5 days day tour, we go to see the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified settlement designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in movies such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy. It has also been in TV series like Game of Thrones.
