On day one of your 7-day trip to Morocco departing from Tangier. We collect you from your Tangier lodging, the airport, or the port. Known as “the bride of the north” as well. The city is northwest of Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean Seas meet. We will first tour the stunning city, the Hercules cave, and Cape Spartel. A lunch break is available. Then, we go through Tetouan and the Rif mountains before arriving in Chefchaouen by car. There will be pauses for expansive vistas. Spend the night in a Chefchaouen hotel.
After breakfast, explore the blue city’s magnificent lanes, Chefchaouen. Then we go to the old Roman ruins of Volubilis. It is well protected because UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site. There are exquisite mosaics, old pillars, and archways throughout. After exploring the ruins, we drive 30 km to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and an imperial city. We will visit: Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then we travel to Fes. Overnight stay at a riad.
We will pick you up from your Fes lodging after breakfast to explore the city. The city is Morocco’s cultural and religious center. It is one of its imperial cities. We begin our day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. Then, there’s the medieval Medina. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is well-preserved. The Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, marks the entrance to the old Medina.
You will enter the Medina with a local guide. You will also visit four sites: the Medrasa Bouanania, Najjarine Fountain, Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the oldest university. Following that, we leave the Medina to explore the Jewish district known as “the Mellah.” Then we drive to a historic fortress with magnificent views of the Medina and Fes. Then return to your riad.
After breakfast, the 7-day Sahara Morocco tour continues south via Imouzzer. To see Ifrane. Its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style houses are well-known. It’s no surprise that it’s known as Morocco’s Switzerland. Then we head to the cedar forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while strolling through the forest. Later, we will continue to Midelt, where we will have some free time for lunch. Then we drive across the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley. We stop for panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Where you swap to camels and cross the sandy desert, stopping on top of a high dune to watch the sunset. Then proceed to the camp. It combines nomadic tents with a hotel’s elegance. Where you can listen to Berber drum music while dancing around a campfire under the huge open sky of stars. Accommodation is in place.
After breakfast, we plan to spend the day exploring the Merzouga region. The area has many magnificent sights. They include sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil sites, and a fabulous oasis. Which are perfect locations for a variety of outdoor sports. We begin our excursion in Merzouga by driving off-road to see an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their hand-woven tent. And learn about their way of life while drinking Berber tea. Then, we will go to Khamlia village to watch Gnaoua music and dance. Its residents are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. There is free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a stroll around the palm tree grove. Drive a few kilometers to visit Merzouga’s wild lake, famous for its flamingos. Finally, we return to Merzouga. Dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
As the sun rises,you will enjoy a breakfast that unfolds at a relaxed pace. Our day will continue to Rissani, once Tafilalet’s capital. This trading hub boasts a lively souk, active three times weekly. We explore its vibrant stalls, immersing ourselves in local culture. Next, we journey to Erfoud. There, skilled artisans revive fossilized quartz. Their workshop showcases intricate creations, each piece a testament to ancient beauty transformed.
Then we travel via Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to get to the Todra Gorges. The course of the Todra River has cut a spectacular canyon through the mountains. This canyon, with its steep red cliff sides, is suitable for rock climbing. Feel free to roam through the gorges and enjoy the scenery. There is free time for lunch at a restaurant. Then we head to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. The natural stops are a rock formation called the “monkey fingers.” Also, there is a viewpoint on a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Dinner and stay at the Hotel/Riad.
Our Sahara adventure unfolds from Tangier to Kalaa Magouna’s Rose Valley. In May, locals celebrate with a fragrant festival, showcasing perfumes and cosmetics. Skoura’s lush palm orchards lead to the ancient Kasbah of Amredhyle. Ouarzazate awaits, offering movie studio tours and the majestic Taourirt Kasbah. This 7-day trip through Morocco’s varied landscapes will amaze you. It promises unforgettable sights at every turn.
We then leave to visit the famed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified settlement designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in various movies, such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy. Besides, there are television shows such as Game of Thrones. Following that, we visit the Telouet Kasbah. Then we travel to Marrakesh over the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We will make stops for lunch and to take photographs at noteworthy locations.
