Itinerary of morocco itinerary 4 days

Today, we will pick you up at your riad/hotel in Rabat. We will begin our 4-day desert trip from Rabat to Marrakech, via Meknes to Fes. Rabat is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities, alongside Fes, Meknes, and Marrakech.

Meknes is the sixth largest city in Morocco by population. It is in northern central Morocco. The Almoravids founded a military city in the 11th century. It later became Morocco’s capital under Sultan Moulay Ismaïl (1672-1727), son of the Alaouite dynasty’s founder.

Volubilis is a Berber-Roman city near Meknes. Its ruins are partially uncovered. It may have been the capital of the Kingdom of Mauretania, starting with King Juba II. Before exploring Volubilis, we will have lunch. Following this visit, we will continue our journey to Fes. Overnight stay in a riad or hotel in the medina of Fes

Following a delicious breakfast, we travel south through Imouzzer to Ifrane. The city is famous for its low temperatures, snow, and alpine-style houses. It’s no surprise that it’s known as Morocco’s Switzerland. Then we visit the cedar forest, where Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while walking through the forest.

Later, we will continue to Midelt, where we will have some free time for lunch. Then we drive to Merzouga via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and the Ziz Valley. We will make stops along the trip to enjoy panoramic landscapes. at the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Then you swap to camels to cross the dusty desert. You are going to stop on top of a high dune to watch the sunset. Finally, you head to the desert camp. The camp combines nomad tents with hotel-like facilities. Where you may listen to Berber drum music and dance around a campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and stay at the campsite

After breakfast, we leave the desert to reach Rissani, Tafilalet’s old capital. Rissani is still a key trading center in the region. It has a busy souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

After a tour around Rissani Souk, we continue to Erfoud. There, we will visit a fossilized marble workshop. We next drive via Touroug and Tinjdad palm farms to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has cut a magnificent canyon through the mountains. The canyon has steep, red cliffs. These gorges are perfect for rock climbing. Feel free to walk through the gorges and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Then we continue to the Dades valley, traversing Boumalne Dades. The inevitable stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation. And on top of a mountain, watching the Dades Valley. Finally, food and a night in a hotel.

On the last day of our morocco 4 day itinerary, we will have breakfast. Then, we will cross the Rose Valley and “The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Next, we will reach Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa,” and then travel to KASBAH Ait Benhaddou. In 1987, UNESCO made southern Morocco’s pre-Saharan adobe architecture a World Heritage site. They filmed movies like Hidalgo, Sahara, and Game of Thrones there. After lunch in a local restaurant, we will go to Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains. This will end your 4-day desert tour from Rabat to Marrakech.

This was the best combination of adventure and culture on the tour. We saw the vibrant Marrakech medina. We did a free walking tour to Koutoubia Mosque. We spent a day in the Atlas Mountains. The desert activities—like camels in Agafay were an exciting adventure. Our Morocco trip had many sights. But, a Berber lunch in the mountains stays with us forever.
