4×4 Merzouga Desert Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Khamlia – Mifis Mines – Nomad Family
After breakfast at your Merzouga accommodation, we begin the 4×4 Merzouga tour. Our first stop is Khamlia village, home to descendants of Sub-Saharan Africans. Here, you'll enjoy a unique Gnawa music performance, a traditional spiritual style with deep African roots. You'll have time for photos and to dance along with the locals.
We’ll then take the rugged Paris-Dakar rally trail across the desert towards the Mifis region, known for its old mineral mines and beautiful desert stones. Along the way, the landscape shifts dramatically from golden dunes to rocky plateaus.
Next, we’ll reach a hidden desert oasis where you’ll meet a nomadic family. You’ll learn about their way of life and how they adapt to the harsh desert climate. Enjoy a freshly cooked Berber lunch prepared by a local woman, accompanied by mint tea in a traditional desert tent.
After lunch, we continue driving across the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes for photo stops and panoramic views. The tour ends with your return to Merzouga around 4:00 PM.
