ITINERARY OF Shared Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour :

Your Shared 3 Day Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech and a travel across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. The trip via the Tizi n’Tichka pass provides breathtaking views of valleys and lonely Berber communities clinging to the cliff. Our first trip is the ancient ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its earthen architecture and part in iconic films such as “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” You’ll have time to explore the maze-like streets and possibly meet a local family.

Following a typical Moroccan lunch, we head to the Dades Gorge, passing via the picturesque Skoura oasis, which is noted for its lush palm groves and old Kasbahs. As we approach the Dades Valley, the terrain transforms into stunning rock formations and steep gorges. Check into your hotel, where you may relax and have dinner while taking in the valley’s stunning landscape.

After breakfast, we headed to the Todra Gorge, another of Morocco’s natural treasures. This location has high cliffs that can reach heights of up to 300 meters. You’ll have time to walk the gorge, enjoy the views, and take stunning photos.

Next, we travel to the Sahara Desert. We pass through Tinjdad and Erfoud, known for their fossils. Erfoud is the desert’s entryway. Arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon, you’ll prepare for a camel ride over the Erg Chebbi dunes. It’s the day’s highlight. As you ride your camel across the shifting sands, the sunset will amaze you with the dunes’ colors.

You will arrive at a traditional Berber camp. You will receive great hospitality. Enjoy a fantastic Moroccan supper, followed by an evening of music by the campfire. Relax under the starry sky as night falls, far from the city lights.

After a morning camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, arrive at the lodge of the camp operator in Merzouga. There, have breakfast, take a shower, and swim. Meet your new driver, who will transport you to Fes today. The drive will take you through the Ziz Valley. It has hundreds of date palms. It offers stunning views of Morocco’s largest oasis. Next, you will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains to Midelt, a small hamlet halfway to Fez. There, you will have lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, you will drive through cedar forests. You may see wild monkeys or Barbary apes. Then, you will arrive at Ifrane, a small town. It is a popular winter resort among Moroccans. You’ll arrive in Fes at 17:00. Your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech will end at your hotel or the nearest spot to your riad.

We had a wonderful 3 days Marrakech shared tour with the group and our driver. He took care of everything. That included our choice to travel to Fes instead of returning to Marrakesh. We saw several lovely spots. The drive was exciting due to Morocco’s breathtaking scenery. The desert experience was a pleasure for me, and the traditional music in the evenings was a real treat. I highly suggest this tour!
