ITINERARY OF 3 days shared tour from Marrakech :

Your Shared 3 Day Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech and a travel across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. The trip via the Tizi n’Tichka pass provides breathtaking views of valleys and lonely Berber communities clinging to the cliff. Our first trip is the ancient ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its earthen architecture and part in iconic films such as “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” You’ll have time to explore the maze-like streets and possibly meet a local family.

Following a typical Moroccan lunch, we head to the Dades Gorge, passing via the picturesque Skoura oasis, which is noted for its lush palm groves and old Kasbahs. As we approach the Dades Valley, the terrain transforms into stunning rock formations and steep gorges. Check into your hotel, where you may relax and have dinner while taking in the valley’s stunning landscape.

After breakfast, we headed to the Todra Gorge, another of Morocco’s natural treasures. This location has high cliffs that can reach heights of up to 300 meters. You’ll have time to walk the gorge, enjoy the views, and take stunning photos.

Next, we travel to the Sahara Desert. We pass through Tinjdad and Erfoud, known for their fossils. Erfoud is the desert’s entryway. Arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon, you’ll prepare for a camel ride over the Erg Chebbi dunes. It’s the day’s highlight. As you ride your camel across the shifting sands, the sunset will amaze you with the dunes’ colors.

You will arrive at a traditional Berber camp. You will receive great hospitality. Enjoy a fantastic Moroccan supper, followed by an evening of music by the campfire. Relax under the starry sky as night falls, far from the city lights.

Rise early to see one of the desert’s most breathtaking sights: the sunrise over the Sahara. The light stretches across the dunes, casting a golden hue. It makes for stunning images and a peaceful start to the day.

After breakfast at the camp, we begin our drive back to Marrakech. We’ll pass through Morocco’s longest river valley, the Draa. Date palms and historic kasbahs fringe it. We’ll make a stop in Ouarzazate, famed as the “Gateway to the Sahara” and home to film studios and the Kasbah Taourirt. Enjoy a relaxed lunch. Then, we’ll drive via the High Atlas Mountains, returning to Marrakech in the early evening.

This three-day desert tour ends with a drop-off at your Marrakech hotel or a central location. You’ll have wonderful memories of your Moroccan desert adventure.

We had a terrific time over our three-day desert adventure! The long journeys were tiring at times. But, they were a fantastic way to explore much of Morocco in a short time. Our driver, Ali, was kind and informative, and he drove with caution. Our guide, Hasan, was a terrific person. He was always ready for brief breaks. He used them to show us sites, explain Moroccan culture, and provide info.During our journey across the Atlas Mountains, we stayed at a Berber family-run hotel. We learned a wonderful history of the Amazigh people, which broadened our perspective. There were two drawbacks. In some cities, the local guides often directed us to stores. This gave the impression that shopping was the trip’s main goal. Also, while the desserts were delicious, the lunches at the other sites were bland and pricey. But the camel ride in Erg Chebbi, the sunset, and the desert campfire with music were all worth it. We highly recommend this trip to everyone!
