4-day trip from Fes to the Merzouga Desert starts with an early pick-up from the airport or your place in Fes. Then we drive south through Imouzzer to Ifrane. Ifrane is famous for its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style homes. It's no surprise that it's known as Morocco's Switzerland. Then we travel to the cedar forest, where the Barbary Macaques live. Feel free to feed them while walking through the forest.
Later, we will travel to Midelt. They will offer lunch there. Then we travel to Errachidia, driving across the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and down the Ziz River. Once we get to Errachidia. We continue to Dades Gorges via Boumalne Dades. We stop at the "monkey fingers" rock feature. And on top of a mountain, viewing the Dades Valley. Dinner and stay at a hotel.
After breakfast, we will go to Todra Gorges. The Todra River has cut out a spectacular canyon there. It goes through the mountains and leads to a high red cliff-sided gorge. Feel free to roam through the gorges and enjoy the beauty of the area. Then we make our way through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. There will be time for lunch along the journey.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga. You embark on camels to cross the sandy desert. You will have the opportunity to admire the spectacular sunset from the top of a high dune. Then go to the desert luxury camp. There, you can listen to Berber drum music. You can dance around the campfire under the huge, open sky of stars. Dinner and stay at the camp.
Wake up early to see an amazing sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver is waiting. We dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area has many great sights. These include sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil sites, and a fabulous oasis. They are perfect for many outdoor activities.
We start in Merzouga. We drive off-road to an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their hand-woven tent. Drink Berber tea and learn about their lifestyle. Our next visit is to Khamlia village. There, you may watch Gnaoua dance and music shows. Its residents are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger.
Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a stroll through a palm tree grove. Then drive a few kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight At a hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert to reach Rissani, Tafilalet's old capital. Rissani is an important trading center in the region. It has a thriving souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After a tour around Rissani souk, we go to Erfoud. There, we visit a fossilized marble workshop.
Following that, we travel down the Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Then we drive through the cedar forest and Ifrane to get to Fes. Finally, we will drop you off at the airport or hotel / Riad. End of the four-day Morocco trip
